MODERN DANCE TECHNIQUE

Training Adults -- Beginning Thru Professional

 

 

Intermediate-Advanced

Wednesdays: 5:30-7:00p

Previous training in any concert dance form required!

 

 

Beginning Level

Mondays: 7:00-8:00pm

No previous training required!

 

Floor to standing barre based on Bartenieff Fundamentals builds core strength and alignment. Moving sequences blend Limon technique for flexibility and Laban inspired range of motion for spatial awareness. Class culminates in movement sequences that blend action, flexibility and

expressive dynamics.

BODY BASICS*

Mondays: 6:00-7:00pm

No previous training required!

 

Basic fitness in flowing exercise of modern dance movements for deep toning, stretching and releasing. Simple exercises from Bartenieff Fundamentals use rhythmic, flowing movements to build physical agility.

 

LONG & STRONG

Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:30 pm

No previous training required!

 

Easy to learn modern dance movements combine strengthening exercises with stretching techniques. Rhythmic repetitions build flexible strength and put the FUN back in Bartenieff FUNdamentals.

MAPPING THE MANDALA*

Combining the wisdom of the body with the symbols of the mandala; this moving-drawing-writing-playing workshop awakens body-mind connections. Mirroring the symmetry of the body, the mandala inspires free form drawing and reflective journal-writing to create a map for our dance of life.

Using the 3 line Haiku format as building blocks, this moving-writing workshop links actions, environment and expression. Body stretches and mental leaps connect actions and emotions in poetic images and stories of nature
